The Cabins have names at Helmsley Meadows

There are moments in building Helmsley Meadows, our nature-led retreat near Helmsley in North Yorkshire, that feel quietly significant. This is one of them.

After months of planning, walking the land, sketching ideas and listening closely to what this place wants to be, our four glamping cabins near Helmsley now each have a name. Names that feel rooted, thoughtful and true to the meadow they sit within.

We also want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who shared suggestions. You really got us thinking, and you helped to name one of the cabins!

Campion Cabin

We had one cabin whose name was eluding us but thanks to the power of social media you have helped us to find the missing name. Campion Cabin is named after the wildflower — and coincidentally one we planted back in the autumn. Forty campion plants now grow just outside where the cabin will sit, softening the view and quietly anchoring it to the meadow.

It felt like one of those moments where the land gently confirms you’re on the right path.
The Inspiration Behind Each Cabin
Each cabin at Helmsley Meadows has been designed to offer a different way to pause. Not louder or bigger, just distinct in feeling — so guests can choose the kind of rest that suits them best.

Waters Edge
Waters Edge will sit closest to our wildlife pond. Its interiors will be inspired by water, reflection and stillness. This is a space designed to help guests feel refreshed and gently restored, with a sense of calm that comes from being close to nature.

The Coppice
The Coppice is our dog-friendly cabin, shaped by woodland textures and forest walks. Rustic, grounded and nature-led, this is a cabin where everything feels softened. A place to come back muddy, light the fire, and slow right down.

Campion Cabin
Campion Cabin takes its interior inspiration from the cottage itself. Cosy, familiar and homely, it’s designed to feel comforting from the moment you step inside — like being wrapped in a hug. This cabin will also be dog friendly.

Meadow Spa
Meadow Spa offers a gentle nod to spa living. Relaxed, luxurious and understated, this cabin is all about rest without excess. A place to let your shoulders drop, breathe deeply and simply be.

A Different Kind of Pause at Helmsley Meadows

As Helmsley Meadows continues to take shape, we’ll share more about the cabins, the interiors and the landscape that surrounds them. But for now, we wanted to let you in on their names.

Each one is rooted in the land, shaped by feeling rather than trend.

We wanted each one to hold a different kind of pause — a slower, more thoughtful way to stay in North Yorkshire, close to nature and the North York Moors.

Looking ahead

As Helmsley Meadows continues to evolve, we look forward to welcoming guests at the moment to our cottage, the cabins will be available from May.
