Please take all your litter home with you and only park in designated areas to avoid blocking essential farm tracks.

Things to Do in the North York Moors
Walking
With over 1,400 miles of paths and trails, the North York Moors is a paradise for walkers. Whether you prefer a gentle stroll through picturesque villages or a challenging walk across rugged landscapes, there’s a route for every ability. Cycling & Mountain Biking
From quiet country lanes to thrilling off-road trails, cyclists can enjoy a variety of terrains. Dalby Forest is a hotspot for mountain biking, and road cyclists can explore scenic routes through rolling countryside and charming market towns with excellent café stops.
For those seeking a challenge, Sutton Bank is a must-visit. Known for its breathtaking views. The Sutton Bank National Park Centre provides waymarked cycling routes. You can also hire bikes on-site and take advantage of expert guidance to make the most of your adventure.
Wildlife & Nature
The North York Moors is home to diverse wildlife, from majestic red deer to soaring birds of prey. Spring and summer bring vibrant heather blooms and a symphony of birdsong, while the coastal cliffs provide a nesting ground for seabirds like puffins and kittiwakes. Don’t forget your binoculars! There are some to borrow in the cottage.
Stargazing & Dark Skies
The North York Moors is one of the best places in the UK for stargazing, thanks to its designation as an International Dark Sky Reserve. On a clear night, visitors can marvel at thousands of stars, the Milky Way, and even the occasional meteor shower. There are also dedicated Dark Skies Festivals held throughout the year in February and October, celebrating the beauty of the night sky.
If you have exhausted yourself on the moors during the day you can enjoy the dark skies in the comfort of the cottage hot tub as we are located in a dark sky area. Just remember to turn the cottage lights off!
